We are called DeSales Community Development for a reason. Our mission begins with developing the physical structures of homes but goes beyond that to cultivate a sense of community. While there are countless reasons to support us on GiveSTL Day, the most important reason is the people - the community that we work to create a home for.

As we're sure you're all aware, DeSales is entering a new era, one in which we intend to honor the foundation that has been established while also introducing new perspectives and change. We owe a great deal of appreciation and gratitude to you, friends and neighbors, for consulting with us, celebrating with us, and supporting us over the last year as we transitioned from our Executive Director of 35-years, Tom Pickel, to our new Executive Director, Becky Reinhart. It is never in doubt how integral your input is to our continual success and this past year’s succession.

This year has been a year of big undertakings and big changes at DeSales. We have seen the results of our work come to fruition, and we have planted promising seeds for the future. There is so much more work to do, and for that we need your support.

On Thursday, November 10, 2022 we celebrated DeSales’ 33rd Annual Night Out for Neighborhoods. 150 friends and supporters joined us at SqWires Annex to celebrate community, honor people and organizations making our neighborhoods a better place, and support DeSales ongoing work into the future. We are proud to share that this was DeSales’ most successful fundraiser ever, raising over $55,000!

On Friday, October 14th, we celebrated a passing of the torch at “Success & Succession”. We said farewell to Tom Pickel, as he retired after serving as DeSales’ Executive Director for 35 years. We also celebrated and welcomed Becky Reinhart, who became DeSales’ next Executive Director; ascending from her previous role as Assistant Director.

On Friday, Sept. 23rd, DeSales submitted two applications to the Missouri Housing Development Corporation for Low-Income Housing Tax Credit funding to create and preserve affordable housing in St. Louis City.

On June 30th, the entire DeSales and Fox-Grove family came together for our staff picnic in Tower Grove Park.

This is a bittersweet week, as we said farewell to two of our social work practicum students, Audrey Williams and Casey Ringenberg. While we're sad to see them go, we can't wait to see the amazing work they'll be doing in the future!
