Pause on SouthSide Rec Programming
The SouthSide Rec program will be taking a pause for the remainder of 2023. We are working to enhance our programs and ensure that affordable sports and recreation opportunities in your neighborhood park remain available for years to come!
During this period of reorganization, we will continue to provide information about other free and low-cost youth programs through our newsletters and social media platforms.

SouthSide Rec
SouthSide Rec (SSR) is a free to low-cost youth and adult program that aims to promote physical activity and advance social equity at the neighborhood level. Our goal is to ensure that people in St. Louis have access to youth sports, recreation, and extra-curricular activities regardless of where they go to school or their ability to pay.

Programs
Youth Sports
DeSales coordinates three seasons of youth sports: basketball, baseball, and soccer.
Winter Basketball (January-February, K-4th grade)
Summer Baseball and Tee-Ball (May-July, ages 5-13)
Fall Soccer (August-October, PreK-5th grade)
Messiah Community Center
The Messiah Community Center (MCC) is located at 2801 Magnolia Ave. It is a space for classes, community connection events, and the offices of Compass Educational Programs. The Community Services Manager from DeSales also has regular hours there to help connect people in the community with the resources they need.
DeSales works with the MCC to put on indoor youth and adult programming throughout the year. Past programs include martial arts, Pokemon club, a youth band, cooking classes, zumba, yoga, and more!
Youth Art Camps
DeSales partners with teaching artists from Bread and Roses to offer free spring break and a summer break art camps. The week-long spring break camp is at Messiah Community Center and our 5-week summer camp is outside in Fox Park.
