A Fall Full of Soccer Fun!

Southside Rec is wrapping up its 2021 Fall Soccer Season this Saturday. This season we had around 200 kids participating in the league. With the help of our partners at the Buddy Fund and St. Louis City Soccer Club, we were not only able to provide all the equipment our players needed, but we were also able to help them develop into better players.

The pandemic made a lot of programming difficult but not impossible. We’re proud to say that we’ve been able to “recreate the backyard experience” by cultivating positive youth interactions through our league. In the beginning we struggled to recruit coaches, but dedicated parents and members of the community stepped up to support. Because of them we were able to continue our league this fall and for that we are truly thankful. There’s no better feeling than stepping onto the field and seeing the parents and kids interacting. We’ve been told that simply showing up to practice feels like going to a “family reunion” because of the meaningful connections that our league has been able to foster in and around our community.
